Week Commencing 21st September 2020
This Past Week….
Saw another well attended Tuesday night social session. These sessions are becoming more popular every week, with sessions that are catering for everyone. This is down to brilliant organisation from our runner of the week – Joanne Howett and of course, our voluntary run leaders.
Social distancing adhered at all times – Good safe running on Tuesday. Well done team.
This Tuesday saw four groups heading out over various terrains, times, distances and paces.
They involved, Group 1 – doing intervals from Codnor Castle with Richard ‘Bunda’ Phillis. Attending this session for some puishment was Mike Corrigan, Ian Warton-Woods, Richard West and Chris O’Donnel. Group 2 – took on mile loops on Broadway in Swanwick with Esther Broughton, Tanya Heaslip, Stuart Green, Colin Smith and Martin P-Yorkshire. Group 3 – took on an easy paced social run over 4 miles with Amy Bradley, Jo Ingram, Nick Hilton, Charli Wilson and Jo Gilliver. Group 4 – risked it all and took on a 6-7 mile, hilly off road route from Wirksworth Stone Centre, attended by Tim Jaques, Alison Mick Wareham and Matt Jones. Well done all and keep up the good work.
Ripley Runners Race Round-up
This week saw a quieter week from Ripley runners competing on the global field. Most notably, and worthy of the first mention was:
Matt Baker – Outlaw X Triathlon
Matt Baker – Who completed the Outlaw X Triathlon. Matt finished in 5 hours 49 minutes and 4 seconds. This included a 900m swim, a 56 mile bike ride and a 13.1 mile run. Well done Matt.
Rebecca Lineker also competed in the Outlaw X Triathlon finishing 12th female and 1st in age group. Rebecca also set a Half Marathon PB. Well done Rebecca.
Alison Butlin tackled a Peak Raid navigation event near Peak Forest. 7.5 miles in 1 hour 43 minutes with over 1000 ft. of ascent. Well done Alison.
Jo Ingram completed an Autumn Virtual Half Marathon in 2 hours 9 minutes. Well done Jo.
