Ripley Running Club Weekly Round-up

Weekly Round up for Ripley Running Club –

WC 13th September 2020

This past week…

Saw a well attended Tuesday night social session. Group 1 tackled 7 miles from South Wingfield led by Mick Wareham. Joined by Ian Warton-Woods, Joanne Howett, Esther Broughton, Nick Hilton and Jo Gilliver.

Group 1

Group 2 started and finished strategically from the Dog Inn at Pentrich. Led by Ian Hawley and attended by Luke Beresford, Richard West, Ryan Orton, Tim Jaques and Danny Elliott. Beers enjoyed by all afterwards.

Group 3 started at Ripley leisure centre for West Avenue reps. Led by Jo Ingram and Tanya Heaslip. Attended by Zoe Naylor and Lisa Smith.

I would just like to thank members of the committee for making sure that these runs can go ahead during the Covid-19 pandemic. I would also like to say how brilliant it is to see the groups well attended. It does feel good to have a dose of normality on a weekly basis.

Ripley Runners Race Round-up:

A busy week for Ripley members this weekend. All times and events taken from Strava.

Sarah Hill competed in and did exceptionally well in the Ladybower 20 race finishing in 2 hours 56 minutes. Sarah blew the field away to capture third place as well as 1st V40 female. Well done Sarah..

Sarah Hill

Matt Baker tackled the Darley Moor Duathlon in preparation for the Outlaw X Triathlon next weekend. Matt came 30th overall and 8th in his age group. A great achievement taking on, in his own words, “a very fast field”.

Matt Baker – Pure grit!

Claire Durose took on the Carsington 7+ (7.5 miles), finishing in a time of 1 hour 7 minutes. Well done Claire.

Kat Fletcher was out and about getting the last long run in before Marathon taper time. 21.15 miles completed for a Saturday morning. Well done Kat and good luck with the Marathon.

Jo, Amy and Tanya were also out and about getting some last minute long runs in before Marathon time. Strategically finishing at the Makeney Arms for some well deserved beer and pork pies..

The week the club will be mainly running……..

Tuesday sessions are out and available to sign up for. Check out the facebook page and get in touch with Jo Howett.

Once again some bad news for you all. The first North Midlands cross country at Markeaton Park in Derby is cancelled. Not a surprise but worth mentioning to you all.
