1. How do I join RRC?

We welcome you to come along and try a run or two with us before you join to check it's right for you. If you like us, membership is £10 and an extra £16 for UKA Affiliation which gives you race discounts and the opportunity to represent the club in races. Speak to a committee member or email officialripleyrunningclub@gmail.com. A copy of our membership form can be found here.

2. What can I expect from a run with RRC?

We usually meet at Ripley Leisure Centre on a Tuesday evening, ready for a 6.45pm start. We have groups running a steady route, speedwork or off-road. Occasionally we have away runs, races or handicap sessions but these are communicated via Facebook where possible. All speedwork sessions will be designed to cater for mixed ability so faster/more experienced runners might do more repeats in the same session.

3. Are you all super fast?

We had a wide range of ability at Ripley RC so if you're a speed-demon we will have runners who will push your abilities and if you're a steadier runner, we have plenty of friendly athletes who will either challenge you to get those elusive PBs or simply offer knowledge of local routes and a nice chat. If you're an absolute beginner, some of our runners are licenced UKA leaders at our associate Jog Derbyshire groups. Have a look at Alfreton Jog Club on Facebook for free sessions to build your confidence.

4. I want to run for a club but I work on Tuesdays. Can I still join?

Of course! Your membership gives you the opportunity to wear that special green and gold vest and feel like part of a team, even if you can't get to training. You can also take advantage in running in our league races for no extra charge.

5. Can I bring my child? Or my dog?

If you wish to bring your dog to a Tuesday session, please speak to a leader or member of the committee first. Many of the routes we run aren't suitable but as we often have social groups and away runs, we can occasionally accommodate a well-behaved pooch. Sadly we don't have a junior section but please speak to a committee member for information on young adults, as we always want to look out for the next generation of Ripley Runners!

6. You all seem a really social bunch and there are photos everywhere! I'm a bit shy, please can you not post my picture?

Chances are if you're at a race or social event, members will take a quick snap or two to celebrate your achievements. These do tend to find their way to our social feeds but if there's an issue, just let us know and we'll remove them

7. What kit do I need?

You don't need anything fancy to start with but a pair of running shoes is essential. A technical running top and suitable bottoms, high vis for darker evenings and a torch and you'll be away. You will need to purchase a club vest to take part in league races but a committee member will happily advise
